Duitse Youngtimer Classic naar Spa
Quote:
No Egon's 500 At This Year’s ’Ring 24
But The Event Crosses The Border
The next Nürburgring 24 Hours will go ahead without some perennial fan favourites. The 500k Youngtimer race will not be a part of the Ring 24 weekend. The organisers Youngtimer e.V. report that they were unable to reach an agreement with the ADAC Nordrhein, the club in charge of the 24 Hours, for a slot on the timetable of the 2009 event; which now loses its most attractive support race with a packed grid of 230 cars representing almost half a century of racing history.
The good news, however, is that Egon’s 500 will live on. The race has now relocated to Spa-Francorchamps where, on May 29-31 2009, the Youngimers’ traditional 500k race will be supported by a 3hr event for Historics. Also, a DRM revival race will see Group 2, 4 and 5 cars in action. Germany's loss is clearly Belgium's gain.
