Grand-AM, Daytona Prototypes: Het succusnummer van 2004.....en ze worden nog mooi ook
Na een voorzichtige start in 2003 heeft deze klasse in 2004 een geweldige groei doorgemaakt. Er bestaan dus toch nog succes formules in de autosport. Een kampioenschap dat, in tegenstelling tot de ALMS, een gezonde toekomst tegenmoet gaat. Kwalitatief goede coureurs die meededen, de Famlie France die weet hoe ze de zaak moeten aanpakken.
Ik zal niet ontkennen dat ik meerdere malen heb geschreven dat die kisten foeilelijk waren. Een mens kan weleens zijn mening bijstellen  Volgens mij komt de eerste beauty er nu aan.......Voor 2005 heeft constructeur Picchio puik werk geleverd met hun nieuwe versie: Foto 1, voorkant Foto 2, achterkant Foto3, zijkant Model is nog in volle aanbouw maar als je door de "rommel" heen kijkt kon dit weleens iets moois gaan worden.

ben een fan van deze wagens. Als ze dit in Europa zouden promoten kunnen we een succesvol kampioenschap krijgen en niet zoals in de LMES 3 Audi's die vechten met 1 Zytek.

Lelijk of mooi, dat is eigenlijk niet eens een vraag meer. Kijk maar eens naar de namen die meerijden in Grand-AM, die zijn niet verkeerd. Volle velden, races waarbij er heel wat deelnemers in dezelfde ronde finishen. Dat kunnen we helaas niet van de ALMS / LMES zeggen.
Als je de berichten uit de States mag geloven dan mogen we in 2005 +/- 30 tot 35 DP-wagens bewonderen. Die groei zie ik niet bij andere series, daar gaan ze eerder achteruit (denk aan ALMS). Daytona 24 uur 2005 begint weer interresant te worden...... De snelheid zit er ook aardig in, in het begin van hun ontwikkeling hadden de DP's moeite om het tempo te volgen van een Porsche GT3-RS (denk aan het drama tijdens de Daytona 24 uren van 2003). Nu, na twee seizoenen zijn deze wagens flink wat secondes sneller dan een GT3-RS. De reglementen zullen daar wel een handje aan hebben geholpen Maakt voor de show overigens niet veel uit, ik kijk liever naar 20 wagens die met elkaar racen als 2 Audi's die het opnemen tegen inferieur materiaal

Het team van Gabriele Rafanelli (voorheen Bigazzi) gaat de nieuwe Picchio inzetten voor het Grand-Am kampioenschap. 1 of 2 wagens? Daar zijn ze nog niet uit. E.e.a. volgens www.turbomagazine.be
