Enkele (officieuze) tijden uit een persbericht van Audi Sport UK Team Veloqx.

Jamie Davies had the honour of clocking the fastest time for the Audi Sport UK Team Veloqx squad after four days of testing (FRI/SAT/MON/TUES) prior to the "official" start of the 52nd Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring tomorrow (WED). Davies stopped the clock at 1min 47.18secs on new tyres during Saturday afternoon - 1.64secs under Frank Biela's pole time from last year - which compares well to Tom Kristensen's lap record around the 3.7-mile track of 1:48.418secs from 2002.

Allan McNish, sharing his car with Pierre Kaffer, set a fastest 1min 47.35secs in the second Audi R8 - but on "old" rubber. Davies and Guy Smith shared the driving duties of #88 on Friday and Saturday - until the arrival of Johnny Herbert yesterday (MON) afternoon. Friday, Saturday and Monday trials were conducted in beautiful sunny, hot and dry weather conditions although today's (TUES) final session started off with a very wet track - after heavy and prolonged rain.

Meanwhile, Biela, who completes the #28 driver line-up, arrives at Sebring tomorrow (WED) due to his DTM commitments for Audi.

De Corvettes is inderdaad echt wel snel. Zeker in vergelijking met de Ferrari 575s.

De Ferrari 360 GTC lijkt echter wel concurrentieel t.o.v. van de Porsche 911s.

De voorlopige uitslag van de kwalificaties: Provisional Grid

De Dyson Lola lijkt het tempo van de Audi R8 te kunnen volgen. De Rollcentre Dallara komt ook in de buurt van de Audis.

De Corvettes imponeren en de Ferrari 575 GTCs ontgoochelen echt wel (met meer dan 5 seconden afgedroogd).

De Porsche 911 GT3 RSR is out of the box niet sneller dan de GT3 RS; waarschijnlijk is het moeilijker om een goede afstelling te vinden. De Ferrari 360 GTC kan het tempo van de Porsches blijkbaar toch niet volledig volgen.

De Lotus rijdt voor het eerst. Meer kan er niet overzegd worden; ze zijn bij de traagste wagens op Sebring aanwezig zijn.

De tijden van de snelste wagens van LMP2, GTS en GT klasse zijn geschrapt wegens technische onregelmatigheden

De Bucknum Pilbeam zoog niet enkel lucht aan door de restrictoren, maar ook nog langs ergens anders; wat natuurlijk niet toegelaten is.

De eindplaten van de achtervleugel van de eerste Corvette bleken niet in orde.
De Viper die de derde tijd gereden had, bleek verkeerde restrictoren te hebben.

De front splitter van de BAM Porsche, die als eerste kwalificeerde in de GT klasse, was blijkbaar ook niet reglementair geinstalleerd. Hierdoor krijgt een van de Alex Job 911 GT3 RSR pole in deze klasse.
De tijd van de tweede AJR Porsche werd ook geschrapt wegens een te lage voorspoiler.

The American Le Mans Series will continue to live up to its "For the Fans" image with the introduction of fan forums at all rounds of the series in 2004, beginning with the 52nd annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

The American Le Mans Series "FANatic Forum" will debut at Sebring, the opening event of the 2004 season, at Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway Mar. 17-20. The forum will begin at 3 p.m. (Eastern) on Friday, March 19, and will be held at Sebring's "Spring Brake Party Zone," located in the track's midway.

The one-hour forum will give fans of the professional sports car racing series the opportunity to ask questions of series personalities in a casual setting. Guests will be seated on a stage and will take questions from the gathered audience. John Hindhaugh, anchor announcer for the American Le Mans Series Radio Web, will serve as moderator.

Guests for the inaugural FANatic Forum include defending American Le Mans Series GTS class champion Johnny O'Connell, driver for Corvette Racing; former Indianapolis 500 winner Danny Sullivan, driver of a Ferrari for Barron Connor Racing; and female driver Amanda Stretton, driver of a TVR for Chamberlain-Synergy Motorsport.

Also on the forum panel will be Alex Job, owner of two-time ALMS GT class championship team Alex Job Racing that fields a pair of Porsche 911 GT3 RSR machines, and Brad Kettler, Technical Director for ADT Champion Racing, which fields an Audi R8 in the LMP1 class of the ALMS.

The forum is free to Sebring ticket holders and is part of a full afternoon and evening of fan activity on the day before the running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The FANatic Open House Autograph session, featuring all drivers who will compete in the event, will be held from 1-2 p.m. in the raceway paddock.

Following the forum, drivers from several ALMS teams will join the popular Hawaiian Tropic models for beach volleyball competition in the Spring Brake Zone at 4 p.m., and ALMS driver Jason Workman from the American Spirit Racing team will conduct a "chalk talk" session for fans at 4:30 p.m.

The Lori Wyatt Band will provide live entertainment in the Spring Brake Zone at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., while The Xquizit DJ X Show will entertain at 7 p.m.

Het nieuw gecreeerde Krohn-Barbour Racing team zal 2 Lamborghini Murciélago R-GTs inzetten in de GTS klasse van ALMS vanaf de tweede wedstrijd (25 - 27 juni).

Dit nieuwe team is vandaag in Sebring voorgesteld.

Het gerucht doet trouwens ook de ronde dat Champion in 2005 2 R-GTs zal inzetten als het deelnemersveld in de LMP1 klasse niet verbetert/toeneemt.
